越谷 健美の湯

I thought the price was commensurate to what I was paying for- salt, steam and dry sauna (female side); carbonated water baths in the outdoor area, apple scented water in the event bath, and water from Niigata (Nov 2021) in the outdoor area. It's rare that the rotenburo water is carbonated so I thought that was the main feature of this spa. The relaxation space is wide and can probably seat over 40 people. There was a barber as well within the facility.

Great place to experience public baths, great massage, and surprisingly good food. Bring some ¥100 coins for the lockers.

Has a number of bathing facilities to choose from, including imported onsen water baths, a cold bath, and a sauna room with salt rub. Most people who use the facilities are pretty good about social distancing, even though there aren't really any corona measures in place here, except for a few plexiglass screens on some tables in the eating area. For a bathhouse, the quality of the food in the canteen is, unexpectedly, of a pretty high standard. The spicy miso ramen was pretty well done; although the gyoza were pretty sad, probably from waiting for the ramen to be done. Flavorwise, they were good, but could have been filled more.

For an authentic Japanese bathing experience, this is a great choice. It's affordable, fairly close to the train station (10 or so minutes to get there) and provides the newbie with enough "cover" to get acclimated. Because it''s a fairly large space, you can take your cues from the others using the bath and you won't be standing out as much as you would in a smaller neighborhood bath. Plenty of options for soaking (indoors or out) or using saunas. A unique place, as there are women of ALL ages relaxing, interacting and enjoying themselves. Definitely worth a visit!

Super large place. Great for the price ( about £4 for unlimited bathing in a variety of places such as a sauna, salt bath, outside sulphur bath and more!
