5件I was told that the water used for the tubs comes from a well, not from the city supply, so it's very soft and gentle. One of the tubs is a shallow bubbling bath, and the other is a deeper tub with slightly hotter water. There is also a steam sauna in the basement available at no extra charge. Cost: 500yen, Tue - Sun 2pm to 10pm. If you are in Nagano, make sure to bring your own towel and other things you need to enjoy Japanese #sento.
Needed a soak after a day of snowboarding, so decided to check this place out. It is very nice and clean and gets the job done, however, don’t expect an “onsen” experience here. It’s very much a public bath - nothing less nothing more. You enter right into the changing room (from the street) which kinda got me off guard opening the door from the freezing cold and seeing tons of naked folks. You pay your entry (also note it is 100% tattoo friendly) to the wonderfully kind lady to your right in the booth, get naked and go bathe. There are plenty of sit down showers, stools, and buckets. In the middle are a jacuzzi tub and a MUCH hotter soaking tub. Downstairs is an infierno of a sauna - I didn’t last more than 60 seconds. Way too hot for me. Although there is no cold pool, there is a freezing cold shower. Once you’re done dry off, get dressed, enjoy some water or cold milk and be thankful you visited this great, authentic, local sentou.
Bit older but nice and clean onsen. Friendly lady was working that night and she was so lovely. And its Tattoo friendly 👏🏼☺️
Very nice sento close to Zenkoji temple! Good way to relax after walking around the temple and city. Old fashioned wooden exterior. Opens at 1pm. Micro bubble bath next to the main bath, and a nice steam sauna in the basement! Also a big mural of Mt. Fuji, and a cool mosaic tile design on the opposite side. Baths are hot, but not too hot that you can’t get completely in for a nice soak; nice for a winter day. They also sell milk and other drinks to cool off after the bath. Bring your own toiletries or buy from the lady at the front desk. Sento are not spas, they’re local bathhouses. Whoever said the place was dirty and smelled was TOTALLY WRONG! I’m sure they got it confused with a different sento because they perhaps can’t read Japanese and chose it by mistake (I’m sure it was this, another sento along the way was so-so for my tastes). Place was clean and spotless!
Typical japanese bath house(Sentou) where you can experience japanese ordinally daily life. Its a tattoo friendly place so don't be hesitate to go there even if you have big tattoos or whatever. Price is just Yen 400 although they don't have rental towel, shampoo and body soap etc. So don't forget to bring your own bath goods! You can feel like heaven especially in the winter here.
