A bit pricy for a super sento but it's close, can stay for quite a long time and offers many amenities. Love the tansanburo and infrared sauna the most!

I went to Nagomi no Yu today and loved it. The people who work there were wonderful. There are several baths on the men’s floor - a vibra bath with a lot of bubbles (not sure what it is, but it felt good) a carbonated bath, a jet bath and a cold plunge. On my way out, I discovered another bath outside, so I’ll have to return so that I can use that one too. And there were lounge chairs outside for an “air bath”. I also had a wonderful 30-minute massage. It was so relaxing, I fell asleep, which almost never happens. She worked mainly on my back and legs, and may have also done my arms, but I fell asleep :) I didn’t eat, so I can’t vouch for the restaurant, but the food looked good. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The man who checked me in was very welcoming and friendly and even though he only spoke a little English, and I only spoke a little Japanese, it all went very smoothly. For newcomers, I’d like to explain the check-in procedure since they all seem to be a little different and hopefully this will help. Like in all sentos/onsen I’ve been to, you put your shoes in a locker. Keep your shoe locker key. At the desk, they will give you a locker card. When you get to your locker, you insert the card and then remove the key. If you’re going to get a massage, I advise booking when you arrive. There’s also a booking counter on the first floor. I arrived at noon and the next available appointment was 1p.m., which was perfect. Go to your respective floor - men on the 4th, I think women on the 2nd. The restaurant and massage area is on 3. Not sure about the other floors, I think another reviewer explained them. I was given three towels. A small towel for the bath area and two large bath towels. More than I needed, but it was nice to have. If you’re going to be getting a massage or going to the restaurant, there are pajamas you can borrow on your floor. You will pay when you leave. Everything you buy - massage or food - will be added to your tab. I got a little confused on leaving, so I wanted to explain. There is a kiosk to check out. You can choose English. Tap your locker key on the kiosk and it will show you your total. Then choose how you want to pay - cashless or cash. You can pay by credit card, IC card or cash. Your receipt will have a QR code which you use to exit. I wanted to address two negative reviews I read. One complained that her massage was canceled because she was late. The other complained about the no tattoo policy. Listen, these are called “policies” and all businesses have a right to set their policies for smooth operation. The tattoo thing is rooted deeply in Japanese culture. Look for a tattoo-friendly establishment, but don’t give them a one-star review because you were too lazy to look for tattoo-friendly places (they exist). And as far as being late for your appointment, you’re lucky they didn’t charge you or cut your session short. I mean, where are you from that you expect them to make accommodations for your lack of planning? You should have arrived at least 15 minutes early. Or better yet, arrive an hour early and soak before your massage. You obviously didn’t know where you were going, so why give them a one-star review because you were clueless? This is a sento/onsen, not a spa. The main purpose is bathing. Massage and food are extra amenities they provide. I’ve been to many different sentos in Tokyo and this was one of the most local and welcoming. If you are looking for a super sento with a lot to offer, this is worth a visit. It’s a short walk from Ogikubo station. Compared to some of the other places like La Qua or Thermae Yu, it’s more affordable and less touristy. I will definitely be going back.

I absolutely loved my experience here. I went on a Friday afternoon and it was relatively quiet. For first timers who are English speaking, I hope this long review helps clarify some things : Floors : 1) Check in with a person where you get towels and locker card key. You can either pay for just the baths OR baths and bedrock room. You can also book massages here. You lock up your shoes and are barefoot the rest of your time at the spa. There are provided slippers for the toilets rooms. 2) Women’s bath house floor. This has all the Japanese shower stations, 3 different hot baths, a dry and wet sauna, and an awesome cold plunge. There are also lockers, vending machines, blow dry stations, and a really nice relaxation area full of reclining chairs. Also Korean wet room for oil/milk massages and scrubs. 3) Restaurant/Massage Rooms/Small steamy co-ed sauna. Loved my massage here. It’s shiatsu style and done fully clothed. Outfits are provided in the women’s bathhouse that you must wear up to the massage. You must also wear an outfit into the sauna on that floor. 4) Men’s floor with all the same stuff as the women’s floor. 5) Bedrock floor. This is an interesting floor that seems to have 2-3 themed relaxation rooms containing bean bag chairs, a manga library, TVs playing shows about kittens, as well 2-3 small different sauna experiences. This whole area is co-ed and outfits are required. I would skip this area next time personally as I found the bath house enough and I’m not crazy about wearing outfits inside saunas. Things to note : -The purple sauna outfits that are required are 100% polyester so for me the idea of sweating into a plastic outfit feels yucky. That’s my main reason for skipping the bedrock area next time. I would encourage the management to consider simple cotton outfits instead for sauna. The bath floor has two great saunas anyways. -I am a size 8 in American sizing. I fit into the largest size outfits available so just be aware of that. I’m not sure if you can ask for something larger but it’s a good point to consider if you’re a larger person. You need to wear those clothes for massages. - 4 OUTFITS EXPLAINED! There are 4 colors of outfits on the women’s floor, and I assume the men’s as well. 3 polyester outfits- The purple outfit required for bedrock floor, a salmon pink outfit, a mint green outfit. You can choose whichever color you want to wear around, however if you wish to visit the bedrock room or the restaurant you must wear the PURPLE outfit ONLY. You can also wear normal clothes to the restaurant. There is one dark blue cotton outfit which I wore to my massage. Happy there was a cotton option. I basically just wore this the whole time when I wasn’t in the baths to both my massage and the relaxation area. If you’re cool with skipping the bedrock floor just stick to the blue outfit while you’re there to keep it simple. -There is a smoking area which I couldn’t smell throughout but it’s something to note if you’re ultra sensitive. -They open at 10:30 am so it’s a good idea to get soaking time in before your massage treatments (which are amazing by the way.). -There is no English to be found anywhere and nobody I came across speaks it, including my massage therapist. For me, this makes it a better and more authentic experience, but just be aware you might need your phone to translate things. Everyone was very kind and helpful in trying to communicate and it all turned totally ok. Some of the iPads and the check out stations to have English so that’s streamlined and easy. Altogether, I had an AMAZING day and could have stayed 6 more hours! I can’t wait to come back and feel I’ve discovered a real gem. The baths have something in them made me feel so “Genki” and refreshed. About me: I’m a frequent visitor to Japan that comes 1-2 times a year for month long periods. I am very familiar with onsen etiquette and overall Japanese culture. I like to think I have a good grasp on what a relaxation in Japan should feel like and this place hits the mark!

It’s a great facility with so many different baths, and three saunas (on the men’s level). But the clothing and towels and regs about what to wear on each level was mind-bending for someone of my limited intellectual capacity. I got turned away from the restaurant for wearing the wrong outfit, and decided to call it quits then. As onsen go, it’s expensive. ¥2,800.

I have been here 3 times. Things I like are the excellent saunas, the excellent mist sauna, the rare and unusual infrared sauna, and the sheer size of the baths. Even when they are busy, there has been plenty of space in each bath or sauna. Having said that, the food is overpriced for what you get. It's good food, but eating outside gets you a far better deal. No issue with service. Young arbaito staff have always done their best to make me feel comfortable. The rotemburo, outside bath, has no view at all. Just don't expect a view and you'll be fine given the silky hot water. Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are complimentary as is the towel and pajamas, so the 2400 price seems appropriate. This is not my everyday sento, but it's not a destination place either. The rocks baths are comfortable enough for a date, but it's not impressive.
