MACHIYA:SAUNA KYOTO

Amazing!! You don’t just get sauna and bath. The package includes the entire house to enjoy and relax. Great sauna experience. Very nice end to a stay in Kyoto. No sound from outside, totally serene. A great escape from the hustle and bustle. If you are considering Sauna to relax during your time in Kyoto. Book this.

TERRIBLE SERVICE & RESPONSE. Flight was delayed so I reached out a day before to cancel and acknowledged the fee, but got no reply or update at all. Contacted them via email, LINE, and Instagram — only one short reply but nothing about the cancellation or refund. Messages were read but ignored. Very disappointing service. Please improve your responsiveness. Went down after missing our reservation to ask about the cancellation, but no one could help. Seems like they were avoiding the partial refund altogether.

Overall excellent. One air con in 1F not working properly... cannot cook and wash. Afterall it's a historical house and there is amenity restriction. As good as it can be.

TERRIBLE SERVICE THAT RUINS YOUR VACATION!!!!! When we arrived, there was nobody there. Doors are all closed. We were told by a person walked by to knock the door. The receptionist came out after we knocked the door. And he said we were put into the waiting list because they had other guests booked for staying overnight at the same time even though we already made the reservation for three hours sauna. We put all our personal information including sensitive information like credit card number when we reserved online. And there was NO notification about they canceled our reservation AT ALL. Obviously they are overbooking their rooms by putting all the risks on us customers. Make sure you called them right after the reservation. Otherwise you will be wasting your time.

Very relaxing and private sauna experience in a beautiful kyoto machiya that is more than 160 years old! The host was friendly and provided a detailed tour/explanation during the check in. A quiet area away from the busy and hustling streets of kyoto. I wished i had more time to chill in this amazing place.
